South Beach Diet?
Anyone doing or have already done this program? I am on day 4 of phase 1 and very pleased with the results!

Awsome, When I was on phase one my stomach felt a little strange, like there was a knot in it. Maybe it was just me. Hang in there only 10 more days to go. Ive lost 5lbs this week. Im kind of worried that its to fast. I hope its just my body adjusting to the new foods.
Yeah, I have lost 3.5 in 3 days. The book says 8-13 pounds in 2 weeks, so I figure I am on track. I know in Phase 2 I will lose slower!
I have not had any digestive problems really. I should consider a fiber supplement I think. Just for the next 10 days.
What day are you on? I am really enjoying the food! The recipes in the book are amazing! With the exception of that AWFUL ricotta cheese dessert! YUCK!

Quick question regarding south Beach carrie87-
In Phase 1 is it unlimited protein and vegetables for Breakfest, Lunch and Dinner and Snacks or are your vegetables measured?
Thanks for the Reply

That was weird I got bumped off and every thing I wrote was deleted. I agree about the cheese stuff In phase 2 the desserts get better. I lost 50 lbs on this diet 3 yrs ago. but had a baby and put back on the weight(pesky desserts) My goal is more aggresive this time. Im on phase 2. Fiber is a must I got plugged up on Phase 1.
Thanks for the input getfit! Fiber it is!!!!
Rose, Phase one is the "strict Phase" and lasts two weeks. It is protein, healthy fats, and veggies. But the veggies are specific. Broccoli, lettuce, cauliflower, cukes, spinich, zuccini, mushrooms for example are great. Carrots, corn, peas, potatos are NO NO's!! As close to NO carbs as possible. After 2 weeks it allows for small "Doses" of whole grains, fruits etc....
Check the book out! I have had it forever and finally REALLY read it! There is some really cool info in there!
I believe different plans work for different ppl....for me.... carbs stick to me like glue! I am soooooo excited for this to work! So far so good!

check out the southbeach cook book. Especially when you get to phase 2. The strawberry butter milk ice Rocks. Fruit is the one thing I welcomed back. Everything will taste sweeter after the first 2 weeks. load up on sugar free jello. It really works when you wnt fruit
My husband's whole family did it last summer with very fast results. My husband actully lost the whole thirteen in the first two weeks and I lost about 10 in those weeks. It was easy to follow because their is no worry about amounts of consumpution(which my husband loved). However as a word of advise be carefull in phase two when you add foods back in and you most likely will gain it all back ( and then some) the second you stop following it.
Yeah, I was surprised to see that in Phase one! I LOVE my after lunch sf Jello!!! It is such a needed treat! I will check out that cookbook!!! Thanks!
Waterphoenix, you mean if you stop following Phase 2 as it is laid out you gain it back or just from starting Phase 2? Now I am scared!
Waterphoenix, I agree with the weight gain. I started eating un healthy when I was pregnant Just because I could. Carie This needs to be a lifestyle change to cut the crap out of our food choices. My Husband cholesterol is over 250 and Ive never had mine checked. We want to be here for our kids. This will be the way I eat for the rest of my life. With the junk food for special times only. Dont be scared, be healthy for the rest of your life. Sorry that was a little mushy and dramatic but the truth
Oh yeah Im On here to keep track of calories on phase 2. So I can add up my carbs so I dont go crazy with the food. Calories are still calories even if there the healthy ones
getfit, I appreciate the "Mushiness!" I need to make this a lifestyle change! And I really think I can do this! The food is yummy! I WILL be looking forward to fruit, but from what I gather, my faves, watermelon and bananas are still sort of "Off limits". But no biggie! I love apples and oranges and strawberries too!
I feel so great being into day for with NO slip ups! Like you said...10 days to go! NO PROBLEM!!!

carie Its nice to have someone to talk to.... my friends and family think im obbsessed with this counting cals and eating healthy and are really tired of hearing about it. This place is great everyone is so nice So Far anyway. I think Southbeach changed its mind about bananas (phase 2 of course). There high in sugar but in high in good for you things too. Check out prevention.com. They have a lot of info on south beach. Ive eaten one this week...... at night before bed so the sugar hit me while I was sleeping. No carb cravings so far
I love all the cool friends I have made on this site!
I am so glad you responded to my thread...you sure know a lot about South Beach! Thank you sooo much! I will check out prevention!
Where do you live? I am in Michigan.

Im in Texas. Its hot here. The reason I know so much is my moms a diabetic who just had a heart attack a year ago. I had been bugging her to straiten up since the book came out several years ago. She eats chocolate when she has a low blood sugar. Shes a big chocoholic. I learned my eating habits from her. I really needed to reprogram myself. Her habits bit her in the butt and now shes taking her health to heart(pun intended)Ill be back to chat if you want.... in about thirty to forty minutes Ive put off working out because Im chatting
Well its hot here, so I can only imagine what Texas is like! So how is your mom doing now?
Carie- Just be carefull as you transition into phase 2, that is where you start added foods back in, the book even says to add stuff slowly (one or two foods at a time) and to watch how it effects your weight loss. You will lose but it will slow down to the normal 1-2 pounds per week, but you can't just add in everything that is allowed in phase two right away. My sister-in-law made that mistake, she didn't gain but she did stop losing and eventually gave up, when she started eating like normal again was when she gained it all back. So as long as your carefull when transitioning phases and your willing to stick with it you should be fine.
Oh did I mention good luck! My husband is starting again (hopefully for real this time) with south beach on monday. He refuses to count calories though (he's an accountant- go figure!)
My moms doing great now her heart has even repaired its self. which the doctors told us would never happen. her echo cardiogram showed it and the doctors were very surprized. She hasnt lost any weight, but her blood chemestry has improved. Love this diet cause I can eat every three to four hours. just had a snack celery w/ PB Yummy! Work out made me hungry
