Lauren in San Diego here (5'11''). I was up to almost 180 lbs at the end of last year and I lost about 10 pounds during Jan-Feb and then got lazy. I need to get back on the wagon. I think I weigh around 170 and I would like to be 150. Weigh in on Fridays for me starting tomorrow. I would love to chat with others who have similar stats and goals to stay motivated. All my girlfriends are little petites, I need some amazon love!!
Let's look hot and healthy this summer!!!
Heya Lauren! I'm 5'11" and have more weight to loose than you (my goal for now is 180, currently at 231) but I'd like to join if you don't mind! I am working hard to make sure I lose 2lbs a week and would like to do it as part of a group. Woot for Amazons! ![]()
Hi, I've talked to you before, you rock! Yeah, I would be happy with even 1 pound a week, but I need to keep chatting with others to remind me to stay on track. I'll weigh in tomorrow and post my current weight, ooh, nervous...
Keep plugging away, nazrafel and you'll be under 200 before you know it!
I want this club to chat about, food, workouts, even rage-filled vent sessions, whatever!
Hi ladies! I'm so happy to see other tall women on here, it doesn't happen often :) I'm 5'10 currently 170 and would like to get somewhere in the 145-150 range. I've been on this site for two weeks and haven't lost a pound.. so I could really use some motivation!
Hi huntrsmom33, you're weight goals are identical to mine!
I know when you're tall you can gain or lose more weight and it's not as noticeable as a smaller woman, so we have to lose more weight to get those encouraging compliments from others. That's why I want our club to chat about even a 1 pound weight loss so we can get excited about every victory.
As a note to everyone, please include any info you want about yourself: age, location, your workouts, advice, anything on your mind. I'll try to check in every day any post at least something about myself (since I started the forum) but I would encourage you all to do the same.
lol. I just wrote a huge reply on back ground and goals and issues.. but lo and behold I hit preview and it took me to the main forum page :( So I'll ask my quick question, and re-write the rest later.
I tagged this thread so I don't have to go searching everytime.. but I don't know where to go to get my tagged threads!!!
oh no! :) lol
go to my account, tagged items, forum
thanks.. I accidentally found it when I was killing time uploading a photo! Easy things are hard for me ;)
Understand, I am so not computer saavy, I'll get my boyfriend to help me upload my picture tomorrow.
Look forward to reading your background, goals and issues later when you have time to type it. :)
Good morning! I have to make this quick because I'm going out of town this weekend. I weighed in this morning at 169.4! Yea! It's a start.. although I'll probably ruin it on my road trip!
hiya, im 6ft
hehe legs 11. im currently 233lb due to laziness and various personal problems at home. i am desperate to lose weight but need motivation and support!

Hey everyone!
I hope y'all are having a good day so far. I'm off to the gym to work out and weigh myself (I need to buy a scale). I'll post my weight when I get home. If you haven't posted your weight yet, try to post it sometime today.
Also, what are your fitness goals? I'm shooting for 45-60 minutes of cardio, 5x this week.
Love ya', and good luck this week!
This winter I was hovering between 168-170 and have been gaining lately despite the fact that I am running/working out more than ever!! Very frustrating to say the least. I am ready to get back on board with counting and want to start dropping slowly but surely.
Fitness Goals: 25-30 miles per week, 3 classes at gym per week (Total body Conditioning x2, Butts and Guts x1)
I love the idea of tall women sharing ideas and celebrating together. I think we face some different challenges than others and it is nice to see this thread formed...great idea!!!
Like others have said, our weight loss doesn't really show as much as others because we are so tall. The same is true for weight gain. I get annoyed when I say I want to lose 15 lbs or so and people tell me that I don't need to lose weight. I have begun telling them that they don't know what I look like naked and that they should trust me that I do need to lose a few more lbs. That usually gets them.
My goal weight is 145 lbs (or so, depending on whether or not I like what I see when I reach 155, 150, and 145). I'm concentrating mostly on whether or not I'm satisified with my shape (mostly want to ditch the belly and fat around my hips).
ETA: My goal isn't quite 20 - 30 lbs, but I'm hoping you folks won't hold it against me. Right now it's about 17 lbs.
WELCOME KYLIE AND EMMA!!
Ok ladies I weighed myself at the gym and I was 166 which was actually less than I thought I was, although I think maybe I just lost muscle weight because I stopped doing strength training. Either way, I would like to get under 160 in the next 4 weeks.
Today I did a cardio circuit of stairclimber, elliptical and stationary bike for 45 minutes. It was kind of boring, but I least I did it. Does anyone else's feet go numb on the elliptical? Any info on why that happens?
Do any of you like to do sauna sessions? I go for 15 minutes after my workout - it's supposed to burn more calories, but it's also good for your skin. You might want to try it if your gym has one.
Exercise wise I am doing 60 min of elliptical (i have REALLY bad knees- played BBall/ACL surgery on one, car accident/busted PCL the other) at least 5-6 days a week and the day I don't do that I walk the dog for an hour.
These calorie and AMR counters/calculators have been posted in other places on the forum and I'm going to repost them here because they've been REALLY helpful setting reasonable calorie intake/expenditure goals:

I've lost over 50lbs in the past, but gained back 30 over the following year because I hit a MAJOR wall/plateau and couldn't get past it and pretty much gave up. In retrospect I believe it was because I wasn't taking in enough calories AND i was working out over 90 min (sometimes 180 min!) a day doing cardio. My body went into starvation mode and I didn't know it. This time around these sites helped me set realistic calorie targets based on my workouts and I will recalculate every 10 lbs I loose. That way I can loose it and keep it off AND be healthy!
WELCOME ATHOMPSON60!!
Yes, I hate when people tell me that, I say the exact same thing that you do. At 5'11'' my real goal is 140 (no, it's not too skinny everyone, I've been that weight before and I looked fine and I ate :), but right now my goal is just 150.
Eating is the hard part for me; I love to eat healthy, but I work at night at a steakhouse with horrifically fattening food everywhere I turn so it's hard not to graze. Sometimes I end up bingeing at work and it gets me off track.
Nazrafel, thanks for the links! Sounds like you have been through hell - you're probably right about not eating enough calories in the past. Things will go better this time for you, I suspect. The nice thing about being tall is we can eat more food that the smaller ladies. Yeah!!
Wow, that's amazing, finchcat! I would love to see some before-and-after pic's of you. Of course feel free to chat with us! I know maintaining the weight can sometimes be harder than losing it.
HAVE A GREAT WEEKEND EVERYONE, STAY STRONG!!
Hey laallisonro, this is a great idea. Weight loss is a totally different game for us tall girls and it's good for us to check in with each other.
I'm 5'11, age 33
sw (3-31) 175
cw (4-25) 168
gw 158
I want to lose 10lbs of fat but figure I'll be gaining some muscle, so my goal weight is just an estimate. My main goal is to keep a balanced diet and slim up my legs.
