So my stats currently are 5'3", ~115 pounds, 19 years. After I lost my period from losing 15 pounds, I was about 109 pounds, and was put on birth control about 2 months ago, but I gained about 5-6 pounds, through overeating or binging at night, whatever you want to call it. I guess after gaining back some of that weight, I am kind of scared of gaining more. Plus I see myself as really flabby even though I think I have a fair amount of muscle (the fat layers itself over the muscle really well). I just want to know: is my weight healthy, what can I do to tone, how to I stop eating so much at night, and can I still consider losing just a little weight?
I congratuate you on getting healthier, and I can see how it would be hard to become acustomed to the new body that comes along with it. :) Your height and weight considered-you sound very healthy.
Pilates is a great way to tone-and if you look at the bodies of women who do a lot of pilates: they are amazing. Pilates builds long lean graceful muscles. Classes are better than home DVDs because you can be 100% sure that you will be performing the exercises correctly since youll have an instructor. If thats not your style-look into other options. Also-if you attend classes at night, then you would have something to preoccupy yourself instead of being tempted to raid the fridge!
I dont think that TRYING to lose weight would be good, but if you are eating a well balanced diet and working out, its possible that you may lose a few pounds in the process..And as long is it would be only a few and keeping you at a still healthy weight-it would be okay.
To judge whether you're a healthy weight, try this website which is a BMI chart aimed specifically at the under 21's. http://www.kidsnutrition.org/bodycomp/bmiz2.h tml Currently your BMI is just over 20 which is perfectly normal. BMI 20 - 25 is a normal healthy weight range and 140lbs would still be a normal weight for someone your age and height. You therefore don't need to lose any weight.
To stop eating too much at night, try eating more throughout the day... Regular meals of nourishing foods spaced at even intervals are a the best way to keep your energy levels steady. And if you're eating because you're bored in the evening then try to find other things to do to keep you occupied
