I have a question about being hungry. I have been loosing weight since March and am currently down almost 80 pounds. When I first started I was only doing cardio (mostly eliptical) but in the past couple of months I have started to lift almost every day. When I was only doing cardio I was only eating about 1500 cals daily and that was fine. I really was not hungry.
Since I have started lifting I have raised my calories to about 2000 as I am at my target weight but now I am hungry all of the time. I have tried eating protein bars but they make me sick. I have been eating more meat and other proteins but I am still hungry all the time. Is this normal?
Here are some stats:
Weight: 183
Age: 39
Sex: Male
Normal Daily Workout: 30-40 minutes lifting (chest, tricepts, bicepts, shoulders, back, & legs), 50-60 minutes of cardio (mostly running)
Thanks for any info.
Lifting burns a significant amount more of calories... thats the only reason i can think of
Since you are at your target weight, you should be eating a maintenance level of calories. That is about 2800-3000 calories for someone your age, size, and activity level. Use Tools/Burn Meter on this site to see for yourself.
No wonder you are hungry. You should be eating more.
You are not taking in enough calories and should not be lifting everyday. Part of strength training/lifting is proper recovery time. 3 non consecutive days a week is all you need for lifting. Make sure you are getting enough good fat and protein. Clean/balanced eating is the key. Recovery time!!
