Newbie here needs help, l dont have any problems choosing low calorie, high fiber complex carbs for breakfast and lunch. My problem is, as soon as walk through the doors of my house, l want to eat and eat and eat, my husband says l dont get enough calories during the day, what do you guys think? Anyone else have the same issues?l am trying to do this right.
Sounds to me like you're bored when you're at home if it's literally the case that you come home and all you want to do is eat. Find something more productive to do than search through your kitchen for food.
How much are you eating through the day? Are you spacing your meals to every 2-3 hrs? We're not talking huge meals, but little pick me ups throughout the day. Until you actually list what you are eating and what proteins you are getting during the day, I dont think anyone can really judge.
Boredom is a huge reason for people eating in the nighttime. Also emotional eating....which boredom again can be the reason. How much water are you drinking? When you walk througn the door in the evening, what are you eating? Can you substitute the junk for carrot sticks? It could be that you just need something in your hand. Try picking up a hobby or craft during the evening hours. Stay away from that idiot box (TV) and perhaps the boredom will subside.
Make sure you're going for a realistic calorie intake, that you're eating/snacking regularly and then try to get between 1/2 and 2/3 of your daily calories in before suppertime.... It's good that you choose wholegrains but try to get some fat and protein at each meal as well since this makes a meal more long-lasting. If the evening tendency to overeat doesn't improve you're either grazing out of boredom or you're not eating enough in total. If it improves then you've solved your problem.
Best of luck
Thanks everyone, l will have to change my evening routine and eat smaller meals more often and let you guys know how it went. l am not a junk food person, my sin is rice/pasta, comfort foods, so now, atleast in the last 2weeks l have gone whole grains, brown rice, beans, salmon, chicken breast, fruits and veggies, no added sugar and nothing with corn syrup. l actually snack on carrot sticks and l love it. l think l will start doing crafts again that should take care of that evening time boredom/emotional eating. l'm glad l found this site thank-you again.
